| 《茶花女》是威尔第根据小仲马小说编写的四幕歌剧。Traviata，原意为"一个堕落的女人"。剧情开始时，身染肺痨的巴黎名交际花薇奧蕾塔，在派队上结识了已在暗中爱了她多日的青年阿芒。见面后，玛格丽特正巧发病，阿芒真诚地照护她、体贴她。薇奧蕾塔深受感动，接受了阿芒的爱情。 她倾全部积蓄，与阿芒到乡间居住。阿芒的父亲，赶来乡间，以薇奧蕾塔和阿芒的关系威胁了阿芒的妹妹的婚姻为理由，要求薇奧蕾塔和阿芒断绝关系。当他得知薇奧蕾塔对自己儿子确是一片真心后，有所触动，但仍坚决要求她与儿子断绝关系。薇奧蕾塔考虑到阿芒将来的幸福，忍痛答应阿芒父亲的要求，给阿芒留了一封信，假称自己要重投旧情人的怀抱，又重回巴黎夜生活。阿芒赌场胜利后，也回到巴黎，一晚当众羞辱薇奧蕾塔，粗暴地把钱丢在她身上。薇奧蕾塔遭此打击，顿时晕倒。半年后，薇奧蕾塔生命垂危。阿芒父亲最后将真情告诉儿子。情人再聚时，薇奧蕾塔回光返照但还是含恨而终。 |
| La Traviata，an opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901). was based on Alexandre Dumas' play The Lady of the Camellias. La Traviata literally means "The Wayward Woman". The story begins with a party, where the Paris courtesan, Violetta Valery, already suffering from tuberculosis, meets a long-time admirer, Alfredo Germont for the first time. Violeta has a fainting spell and Alfredo shows his genuine concern and later declares his love. Violetta is deeply moved and returns the affection. They move to a country house, spending on Violetta's savings. Giogio Germont, Alfredo's father arrives to demand Violetta to break off the affair, as the relationship is threatening Alfredo's sisters' engagement. He soon learns that Violetta is in true love. Violleta eventually gives in, for the future of Alfredo. She leaves a letter for Alfredo, telling him she is returning to her former patron and the night life in Paris. Alfredo makes money from gambling and returns also to Paris. He takes an opportunity to publicly denounce her former lover and cruelly hurls money at her. Violetta is distraught. Six month's later, Violetta becomes critically ill. Giogio finally tells Alfredo the truth. When the lovers meet again, Violetta enjoys a final surge of vitality before she dies at Alfredo's feet. |
